Parineeti Chopra starrer Saina released today amid the Coronavirus pandemic. It is a biopic on ace Indian badminton player, Saina Nehwal. The film is directed by Amole Gupte. The film has already found its way online platforms such as Tamilrockers, Telegram, and movierulz among others. This can be a big concern for the makers as well as exhibitors. The theatrical release section is already suffering due to the pandemic and this makes it worse.
This is not the first time this has happened. Earlier, films and shows such as Godzilla vs. Kong, Mumbai Saaga, Jathi Ratnalu, Sreekaram, The Priest, Roohi, Bombay Begums, Lahore Confidential, Pudhu Kaalai, Sufiyum Sujatayum, AK vs AK, Laxmii, Ashram 2, Ludo, Chhalaang, Dark, Rasbhari, Bulbbul, Paatal Lok, Aarya, Penguin, Gulabo Sitabo, Chintu Ka Birthday, Choked, Ratkanchal, Ghoomketu, Betaal, Illegal, Family Man, The Raikar Case, Hundred, Extraction, Hasmukh, Money Heist, The Lion King, Frozen 2 among others were pirated.
Speaking about her preparation, Parineeti recently said in a statement, "Badminton is the fastest racket sport in the world. You need some serious skills to play an Olympian and I realized that on my very first day on court. There have been days I've cried on court, there have been times I've said 'I can't do this' but then my mind flashes with the image of the millions of people who are going to watch this and that would make me get up."
