Gangubai Kathiawadi: Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali issued summons by Mumbai Court after complaint by Baburao Shah

Gangubai Kathiawadi seems to be facing one controversy after another. As per a report in SpotboyE, the Mumbai Court has issued summons to Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Alia Bhatt and S Hussain Zaidi. They have been asked to be present on May 21, 2021. The complaint was filed by Baburao Shah, who is the adopted son of late Gangubai Kathiawadi, the late don of Kamathipura. He has said that the film has portrayed his family in the wrong way, and is factually incorrect. The movie is based on Zaidi's book, Mafia Queens Of Mumbai. For the uninitiated, Gangubai was sold off in the brothels of Kamathipura by her husband. She had fled her home in Kathiawad with her lover who worked with her father as an accountant.

This is not all. Maharashtra Congress MLA Amin Patel has also raised questions on the film in the State Assembly. He said, "It is not the same as it was in the 1950s. Women there are excelling in different professions. The film's title also maligns the name of Kathiawad city. The name of the film should be changed." Gangubai Kathiawadi is going to be one of Alia Bhatt's big projects of the year along with RRR and Brahmastra. The actress is on a roll in 2021. The teaser of Gangubai Kathiawadi was unveiled on the birthday of Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Fans were supposed to see Gangubai Kathiawadi last year in the theatres but the pandemic played spoilsport. They also had to destroy a set worth crores in Film City, Goregaon. Shantanu Maheshwari is going to play the role of Gangubai's husband in the movie. Alia Bhatt also has RRR and Brahmastra in her kitty. In the middle of all this, there are talks of her marriage with Ranbir Kapoor.
