Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies to revive Sahir Ludhianvi biopic; actor to play the veteran poet?

The talks around legendary writer-poet Sahir Ludhianvi's biopic have been doing the rounds of the industry for a very long time now. Many years ago, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali had said that he would one day want to make a biopic on Sahir Ludhianvi. But nothing concrete was heard about the project since then about the biopic. But it seems like Shah Rukh Khan's production Red Chillies Entertainment are reportedly trying to revive the biopic and if the latest buzz is to be believed, King Khan will play the titular role in the film. However, there's no official confirmation on the same.

Earlier, there were reports that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has signed Abhishek Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu for the lead roles in the biopic. "Both Abhishek and Taapsee have loved the story and are looking forward to collaborate again. However, they are yet to sign on the dotted line. One the formalities are locked, they will begin prep," a Mumbai Mirror report quoted a source as saying. The actors were spotted at the office of Sanjay Leela Bhansali a couple of years ago.

Bhansali was reportedly considering many other actors in the past including Shah Rukh Khan, Irrfan Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and many others. However, nothing much materialised there.

Previously, it was also reported that Farhan Akhtar will play the role of Sahir saying that the actor is the natural choice for the role since his father is a poet and Farhan himself writes poetry. It was also reported that Farhan would be singing some of Sahir's immortal lines. But there was no update on this particular information either.

It remains to be seen if the latest buzz on Shah Rukh Khan essaying the role of Sahir Ludhianvi in his biopic turns out to be true. Let's wait and watch.
