Rajiv Kapoor, Randhir and Rishi Kapoor's younger brother, passes away at 58 due to massive heart attack

Another tragedy has struck Bollywood and the Kapoor family in particular. Not even a year after Rishi Kapoor passed away, his younger brother (Randhir Kapoor is the eldest of Raj Kapoor's three sons), Rajiv Kapoor, has bid a final adieu to this world at the age of 58 after suffering a massive heart attack. Randhir Kapoor rushed his younger sibling to Inlaks Hospital, the closest medical facility near the latter's residence in Chembur, Mumbai, but the doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Rajiv Kapoor is also survived by his two elder sister, Ritu Nanda and Reema Kapoor, besides mother Krishna Raj Kapoor, and ex-wife Aarti Sabharwal. Confirming the news to Times of India, Randhir Kapoor said, "I have lost my youngest brother, Rajiv. He is no more. The doctors tried their best but could not save him. I am at the hospital, waiting for his body."

Though Rajiv Kapoor didn't taste the same level of success as Rishi Kapoor, or even Randhir for that matter, or that seen by his father Raj Kapoor, or uncles Shami Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor, he's still remembered for a handful of cult films like Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985), his blockbuster debut, Ek Jaan Hain Hum (1988) and Zalzala (1988), the unofficial Bollywood remake of Hollywood classic, Mackenna's Gold. His last movie as an actor was Zimmedar (1990). He also directed the Rishi Kapoor starrer, Prem Granth (1996), besides producing films like Heena (1991) and Aa Ab Laut Chalen (1999) under the RK banner. Other than these, Rajiv Kapoor also edited Prem Granth and Aa Ab Laut Chalen.
