Before Baahubali franchise, filmmaker SS Rajamouli had collaborated with Prabhas for Chatrapathi also starring Shriya Saran in a lead role, which turned out to be a winner at the box office. While the Hindi remake of this entertainer was announced with Bellamkonda Sreenivas in 2020, the latest report suggests that Shraddha Kapoor, Disha Patani and Pooja Hedge are in the race to play female lead in the remake, which will be directed by VV Vinayak.
As per the PinkVilla report, a source close to the project said, "The makers plan to start shooting from April and depending on the actress' dates they will zero down on the final cast. The film will be shot in a start-to-finish schedule and will apparently be made on a budget of 75 crore. It is being scripted by Rajamouli's father K V Vijayendra Prasad, while Sajid Samji is penning the Hindi dialogues. Sreenivas has already shifted to Mumbai and has started prepping for the film. Currently, he is focusing on building an appropriate physique to play the character."
Earlier talking to E Times, when Bellamkonda Srinivas was asked whether he is nervous to step into the shoes of Prabhas, he replied, "Not many (non-Telugus) must have watched 'Chatrapathi'. So, I am not jittery," he says, suggesting that he doesn't think there will be comparisons." The film will be produced by Jayantilal Gada's Pen Studios. Speaking about the remake, Jayantilal said in a statement, "Chatrapathi is a great script and we needed a southern star to carry it to Bollywood, and we saw Bellamkonda as a perfect fit. We are very excited about this project, and everything is falling in place at a great speed. We have updated the script to match Bollywood sensibilities."
