Last year was full of surprises and shocks. We lost a lot of gems from our entertainment industry, while the OTT platform boomed like never before. A lot of films released on the OTT platform, thus ensuring that the masses are still entertained while sitting at home, trying to beat the pandemic. So, as our year-ender for 2020, BollywoodLife.com had conducted a few polls, asking you to choose the best from the best. And today, we are declaring the results of one such poll that we conducted. The poll for Best South Actor of 2020. The Best South Actor of 2020 is none other than dashing Suriya for his portrayal of Maara in Soorarai Pottru. He beat Allu Arjun by a considerable margin.
Talking about the poll results, about 56 percent of voters gave a thumbs up to Suriya's performance of Nedumaaran Rajangam. Following him at 33 percent votes is our last year's winner, Allu Arjun for Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. Fahad Faasil got 4 percent votes for his portrayal of a small-time motivational speaker in Trance. Prithviraj has a tie with Dulquer Salmaan at 3 percent votes for Ayyapanum Koshiyum and Kannum Kannum Kollaithaal respectively. Sharwanand, however, got just 1 percent of the votes. Check out the poll result of BL Best of 2020's Best South Actor below:
In an interview with India Today, Suriya had opened up on his character Maara saying, "Since Soorarai Pottru is a research-backed script, we were conscious of building the story without abrupt jumps. And he is not a one-man army to achieve everything on his own. There are other characters who help him. How large-hearted these people are is beautifully portrayed in the film. Soorarai Pottru is about a real-life person and the challenges he faces. It's not in the regular milieu and closer to reality."
