Though Ranbir Kapoor's debut film, Saawariya (2007) tanked at the box-office, he quickly recovered with movies like Wake Up Sid (2009) and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009) that established him as a bankable actor. However, it was his performance in Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar (2011) that left people awestruck. Ranbir Kapoor delivered like a veteran acing the emotional turmoil of the character to the tee. Some critics who had dismissed him as a chocolate boy were forced to retract their judgement. It is a known fact that he has studied filmmaking and method acting from Lee Strasberg Institute. Ranbir Kapoor put in a lot of efforts to get it right.
The highlight of Rockstar was the songs. There is a qawwali Kaya Fun, which makes for soulful listening. Ranbir Kapoor is shown singing at the shrine of Hazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi. Well, the actor stayed there for a couple of days to soak into the atmosphere of the place. The shrine of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya was built in 1325 by Mohammad Bin Tughlaq. It is famous for its qawwali sessions. Ranbir Kapoor quietly stayed there for two days to get immersed into the spiritual and divine vibe of the place.
This is not all. The handsome star also lived with a Jat family for a couple of days to bring in the sense of rootedness in the young Janardan. We know how much he practised the guitar so that he could make the character look as real as possible. Rockstar released in November 2011 and is one of the luminous movies of his career.
