Due to pandemic crisis, we have seen many Bollywood and south taking digital route and releasing their films on OTT platforms. While Suriya Soorarai Pottru is the latest one to join that list, there were speculations that even Thalapathy Vijay's Master will be released digitally as there is still uncertainity of reopening of theatres. Director Lokesh Kangaraj, who arrived in Coimbatore as a special guest by Vijay's fan club, said that the film will only release in theatres and not on any OTT platform.
"Vijay's Master will release only in theatres. There is no chance of the film releasing on any OTT platform. We are waiting for the theatres to re-open in the country," said the director. Talking about the release date, Lokesh asserted, "I have been in touch with several people in the industry. I heard that they are in talks with the government regarding the re-opening of theatres. It has been seven months and if they don't re-open the theatres in the future, then the livelihoods of thousands of people will be affected. Let's wait and see."
