SP Balasubrahmanyam no more: Priyanka Chopra condoles the demise of the legend, writes, 'Your songs are a huge part of my childhood memories'

The year 2020 is leaving us more devastated with every passing month. Legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam left us for his heavenly abode on Friday. He passed away due to a cardiac arrest. The singer was admitted for coronavirus and battled the illness for a month. It has been a huge blow to the music industry and world of art. Not only was SP Balasubrahmanyam a great singer but a humble human being. Priyanka Chopra posted a condolence message for him on social media. She wrote, "RIP SP Balasubrahmanyam sir. Your songs are a huge part of my childhood memories. Your voice will always be herd and your legacy will live on forever. My deepest condolences to the family." The singer had recorded more than 40,000 songs in his career.

He will be laid to rest today with full police honours in Chennai. As per PTI, chief minister K Palaniswami said that a gun salute will be given to the singer. Yesterday, MGM Healthcare in Chennai made an official announcement through a statement. They wrote, "Thiru S P Balasubrahmanyam had been admitted at MGM Healthcare on August 5th and commenced on life support measures since August 14th for severe COVID-19 pneumonia. He continued to be closely monitored by our multidisciplinary team in the critical care unit. He tested negative for COVID-19 on September 4th. In a further setback this morning, despite maximal life support measures and the best efforts of the clinical team, his condition deteriorated further and he suffered a cardio-respiratory arrest. With profound grief, we regret to inform that he has passed away on September 25th at 13:04 Hours. We express our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, well-wishers and admirers at their loss during this time of anguish and sorrow."

Celebrities from the world of films, politics and sports condoled his demise. Salman Khan tweeted, "Heartbroken to hear about #SPBalasubrahmanyam sir... you will forever live on in your undisputed legacy of music! condolence to the family #RIP" We extend our condolences to the family of SP Balasubrahmanyam.
